Dr. Mary Ellen Mazey - BGSU President
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff, We are grieved to learn of the death of one of our students. Hilary Mankin, a 20-year-old junior from Vermilion, Ohio, passed away last night in her off-campus apartment. She had reportedly been ill for several days. Hilary, a theatre major in the College of Arts and Sciences, was a resident advisor in Kreischer Compton Residence Hall. The loss of a young life is always deeply sorrowful. Counselors are available to help. The BGSU Counseling Center maintains its regular business hours during the summer. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. They can be reached at 419-372-2081. If you would like to talk to someone after hours, please call The Link at 419-352-1545. When funeral arrangements for Hilary are finalized, we’ll share the information in Campus Update. If you would like to send condolences to Hilary’s family, you may address them to sympathy@bgsu.edu, and we will deliver them. We share their sadness and keep them in our thoughts.

Members of the Ohio Department of Wildlife were at the Wood County Courthouse this morning banding the latest batch of peregrine falcon chicks! Four females were pulled from the nest, banded and then put back. Yes, there was lots of squawking.


Congratulations to recent graduate Tiffani Bennethum who came in fourth place at the national Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition!
